The Glen Eden Approach
Glen Eden offers a unique educational alternative to meet the needs of those students who have been unable to reach their academic potential.

Glen Eden is a treatment center for boys and girls in grades K-12 that has successfully functioned since 1984.

Glen Eden understands that a meaningful education must:
       · Be humanitarian.
       · Consider the complete person both physically and mentally.
       · Respond to individual needs.
       · Offer an environment that is experientially and conceptually rich.
       · Facilitate socialization.
       · Apply advances in research that affect learning.

Glen Eden programs include individual, group, and family counseling. As well Glen Eden offers parent training, biofeedback, neurofeedback, medication supervision, psychiatric consultation, and research. Rather than focusing on specific symptoms, such as poor reading skills, Glen Eden staff assess all aspects of the person including social, emotional, physical, and psychological contributions. Often the root of a learning disability lies in one or more of these areas. Glen Eden uses two formats, either a small group setting and/or one-on-one instruction.

Small Groups

Students included in small group (five or less to one) setting who because of difficulty in attention, anxiety, discouragement or other regulatory condition that has interfered with their ability to cope effectively are usually of average intellectual ability. They may also be diagnosed with anxiety, phobia, depression, Attention-deficit/hyperactivity Disorder, or psycho-social problems. A Glen Eden devised record keeping system allows determination of the best group fit for the individual student.

One-On-One
Students in this group have more complex problems. These students require more intensive monitoring and programming, at least initially. An even more detailed record keeping is used to monitor and assess the needs of these students. Some students may have severe behavioral problems that may require medication prescribed in consultation with their family and physician. A diagnosis of Pervasive Development Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Tourettes, epilepsy or a genetic disorder is more likely for students in this group.
